Xanthi

Xanthi (Turkish: İskeçe, Bulgarian: Xanthi) is a city of Thrace in northern Greece. It is the capital of the homonymous regional unity and the seat of the municipality of the same name. It is administered administratively in the Region of Eastern Macedonia and Thrace. Its population stands at 65,133 permanent residents, according to the 2011 Census. It is built on the outskirts of Ahladovounos and runs through the river Kosynthos. It bears the following titles: "The Lady and the Lady of Thrace" and "The City with the Thousand Colors". The patron saint of Xanthi is Agios Ioannis Prodromos and the day of his Timothy Head Shot on 29 August is a public holiday for the city.
